With the purpose to detect concomitant somatic pathology, 233 disabled children with neurologic, ophtalmologic, orthopedotraumatologic disorders were examined.

Concomitant somatic pathology was found in 56.1% of the examined children, and it led to an increased life activity limitation in 17.2% of the cases.

It was established that in the course of medical rehabilitation it is necessary not only to assess the extent and progress of the functional disorders which are the result or direct manifestation of the basic disabling pathology, but also to reveal the presence of all kinds of concomitant (including somatic) disorders, as even insufficient or moderate ones can significantly limit life activity of the disabled child and enhance his/her social insufficiency.
